Tecumseh police officer arrested after fight at Shawnee restaurant
A Tecumseh police officer is on paid administrative leave after reportedly getting into a fight with his son at a Shawnee restaurant.
Jesse McCord, 47, was booked into the Pottawatomie County jail on a complaint of domestic assault and battery by strangulation, jail records show.
On Sunday, McCord's son reported to Shawnee police that he and his father got into a heated argument Friday night at Buffalo Wild Wings, said Shawnee police spokeswoman Cpl. Vivian Lozano.
Taylor McCord said his father “leaped” out of his chair, wrapped his hand around his neck and began to choke him, Lozano said.
Jesse McCord is a sergeant with the Tecumseh police department, Tecumseh police Chief J.R. Kidney said. He has been put on paid administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation, he said.
Kidney would not say how long McCord has been with the department.
