Tires stolen from 40 vehicles at Norman dealership

NORMAN — About 160 rims and tires were stolen from vehicles at a Norman car dealership, police report.

About 8 a.m. Monday, officers were called to Landers Chevrolet, 1221 Ed Noble Parkway, in reference to about 40 vehicles that had tires and rims stolen, spokeswoman Sarah Jensen said.

All the vehicles were found sitting on wooden blocks, she said.

Investigators think the thieves likely entered the dealership by cutting the gate lock, then turning out the parking lot lights between Saturday night and Monday morning. They targeted Chevrolet pickups, Suburbans and Camaros, Jensen said.

Similar thefts have occurred in Houston and Tyler, Texas.

No suspects have been identified with the thefts.
