Midwest City police seek two in connection with shooting, robbery

MIDWEST CITY — A store clerk is recovering after being shot by a robber Tuesday night, and police are looking for the shooter and a possible accomplice.

The victim's name was not released Wednesday, but police identified him as a 66-year-old man and said he is in serious condition at a local hospital.

Midwest City Police Chief Brandon Clabes said the clerk lay bleeding on the floor for about five minutes before a customer walked in and called 911.

"This particular case is very disturbing by the fact that it's cold, it's calculated and it's extremely brutal. And our victim is currently struggling for his life," Clabes said.

About 10 p.m. Tuesday, a man walked into the Time Saver, 7000 E Reno Ave., and walked toward the beer cooler where he made a phone call, surveillance video shows.

The man is seen ending the call, and a second man is seen walking into the store, going to the counter and demanding money while holding the clerk at gunpoint.

The first man is seen slipping out during the robbery, pausing briefly at the door to look back. He then is seen heading east of the store on foot.

The robber is seen gesturing toward the area where the lottery money is kept and while the clerk is complying, shooting him once in the stomach.

The robber is seen taking the cash before also leaving eastbound on foot, the video shows.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call Midwest City police at 739-1306.
