OKC police shoot, kill burglary suspect late Monday
A man is dead after being shot by a police officer outside a northwest Oklahoma City apartment complex Monday night.
The man's name was not released.
About 8:10 p.m., an officer responding to a first-degree burglary call at the Crestpark apartments, 3624 NW 42, found a man matching a suspect description and approached him, Capt. Paco Balderrama said.
There was a struggle for the officer's service rifle before the man was shot and ran away. He was found dead in a nearby apartment complex, Balderrama said.
Police are still searching for several people with the man shot by police at the complex, but no one else was in custody Monday night. A teenage girl inside the apartment called 911, Balderrama said.
The officer involved was not named Monday night, and has been put on paid administrative leave.
