OBI asks Oklahomans to donate blood before upcoming winter storm

Officials with the Oklahoma Blood Institute are asking all healthy Oklahomans ages 17 and older to give blood today or Thursday morning as part of preparedness efforts for the forecasted winter storm.

Currently adequate blood supplies exist for patients in the 150 medical facilities across the state served by the Oklahoma Blood Institute. However, if weather interrupt donation patterns, a blood shortage could occur, officials said.

Donating blood, typically, takes about an hour and can be done every 56 days. Donors can visit any of these Oklahoma Blood Institute locations:
